SkyTec Ireland, a new company operating in Cork Harbour, have secured the Irish Aviation Authority's Aerial Work Permission to commence commercial operations. This permission from the IAA is an essential requirement for any operator of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) in Irish Airspace who wants to operate commercially, or for anyone who wants to put a camera into the sky for whatever reason. SkyTec Ireland’s unmanned aircraft will be deployed initially in a photographical mode creating 3D images of well known landmarks to demonstrate the superior imagery obtained from their own image processing system. They are also actively looking into the Media/Advertising usage as this use of the technology is fast becoming established as the most cost-effective way of obtaining video imagery. SkyTec Ireland is based in the NMCI in Ringaskiddy as part of the IMERC campus. http://www.corkharbour.ie/pages/newsDisplay.php?id=192 |
